AI is only useful in a vet practice if it stays under the vet’s control. EDSI’s AI assistant drafts SOAP notes from your findings and answers how-to questions from the manual — but it runs on your own AI provider key, so you own the cost, the data path, and the final word.
What you get

- Ask-the-docs help: click “?”, ask a plain-language question, get an answer drawn from EDSI’s own documentation.
- Bring your own key — connect your OpenAI, Anthropic (Claude), or xAI (Grok) account; there’s no AI markup from us.
- Your key is encrypted at rest and set up by an admin — the practice controls which provider its data goes to.
- Entirely optional — off until you turn it on, and every AI draft is a starting point a licensed vet finishes.
A draft, not a decision
In the exam editor, enter your vitals and jot your findings, then click Draft with AI. EDSI turns them into a structured Subjective / Objective / Assessment / Plan note — and hands it back to you to review and edit. It never auto-saves, it asks before replacing anything you’ve written, and the veterinarian remains the author of record.
The prompt keeps it grounded in what you entered and instructs it not to invent diagnoses, doses, or results you didn’t provide. It saves you the typing, not the judgment.
Answers from your own manual
Stuck on how to do something? Click the help “?”, choose Ask AI, and ask in plain language — “how do I record a payment?” The assistant answers from EDSI’s actual documentation and shows the pages it drew from, so you get a real answer instead of hunting through menus.
Bring your own key — AI without the markup
Most software that bundles AI marks it up and decides where your data goes. EDSI does the opposite: you connect your own OpenAI, Claude, or Grok account. You pay your provider directly at their rates, you choose the provider your practice trusts, and your key is encrypted at rest with admin-only access. Turn it off and the app works exactly as before.

Does the AI write medical records for me?+
No — it drafts. You enter vitals and findings, the AI structures them into a SOAP note, and you review and edit before saving. It never auto-saves and the veterinarian is always the author of record.
Do I need to pay extra for AI?+
You bring your own AI provider key (OpenAI, Claude, or Grok) and pay that provider directly at their rates — EDSI adds no AI markup. The feature is optional and off until an admin enables it.
Is my data safe?+
Your provider key is encrypted at rest and only a practice admin can set it up. AI requests go to the provider you choose; if you don’t enable AI, nothing is sent anywhere.
