The equine essential

Bill one horse to many owners — to the penny.

Percentage split-ownership billing is the feature that defines equine software. EDSI VMS does it with more correctness discipline than most systems expose: penny-exact allocation, one invoice per owner, and a guard that refuses to bill a horse whose ownership doesn’t add up to 100%.

What you get

  • Penny-exact largest-remainder allocation — owner shares always sum to the exact charge, never a cent off.
  • One clean invoice per owner, across every horse they own a share of.
  • A hard 100%-ownership guard blocks any run where a horse’s percentages don’t total 100%.
  • A dry-run preview shows exactly what will be created before a single invoice is written.
  • Ownership changes are date-aware — a horse that changed hands is split among its current owners only.

Correctness you can prove, not just trust

Naive percentage math invents or loses pennies: $100.01 split 50/50 becomes $50.01 + $50.01 = $100.02. EDSI allocates in whole cents with largest-remainder rounding, so every owner’s shares add back up to the exact charge — every time.

Before anything posts, a dry run shows you the invoices that will be created and their totals. Nothing is written until you confirm.

A guard that refuses to guess

If a horse’s ownership percentages don’t total 100%, EDSI stops the run and names the horse — it never silently guesses at a money split. You fix the ownership, then bill with confidence.

  • End-dated former owners are excluded automatically from current splits.
  • Each charge is split by its own horse’s percentages, so mixed loads bill correctly in one run.
  • Built to hold up at thousands of charges in a monthly cycle.

Split-ownership billing — questions

Does EDSI round split invoices correctly?+

Yes. EDSI uses integer-cent largest-remainder allocation, so each owner’s shares always sum to exactly the charge amount — no invented or lost pennies.

What if a horse’s ownership doesn’t add up to 100%?+

EDSI blocks the billing run and names the horse rather than guessing. You correct the ownership on the Owners tab and re-run.
